Calacatta Gold
Calacatta Gold is the white marble with bold gray and gold veining that defines the high-end kitchen and bathroom look. It is the premium tier of the white marbles from the Carrara region, rarer and more dramatic than Carrara White: a brighter white ground, wider veins, and warm gold streaks running through the gray. This collection is Tilezz's largest marble line, with more than 100 tiles and mosaics cut from Calacatta Gold in polished and honed finishes.
What's in the collection
Field tile in 12x12, 3x6 and 4x12 subway and 2x4 brick, plus 12x12 mesh-mounted mosaics in hexagon, herringbone, basketweave, chevron, octagon and dot, pinwheel, fishscale and 1x2 and 2x4 brick patterns. Pencil liners, borders and baseboards finish the edges. Most formats come in both polished and honed.
Where to use Calacatta Gold
Kitchen backsplashes behind a range, full-height shower walls, bathroom floors (honed), vanity walls, fireplace surrounds and entry floors. Pair the field tile with a Calacatta Gold mosaic on the shower floor and a pencil liner at the niche for a coordinated bath. Calacatta's gold tones pair naturally with brass hardware, warm white paint and white oak.
Polished or honed
Polished shows the veining and reflects light; it is the usual choice for walls, backsplashes and low-traffic floors. Honed is matte, hides etching and water spots, and gives better grip, so it is the choice for shower floors and busy floors.
Care
Seal after installation and re-seal every year or two in wet areas. Wipe acidic spills quickly; marble etches. Use white or light-gray unsanded grout for tight joints so the veining, not the grid, carries the design.
Frequently asked questions
Is Calacatta Gold the same as Calacatta Oro or Calacatta Borghini?
They are all Calacatta marbles from the same region with different vein character and price. Calacatta Gold has warm gold and gray veining on a white ground; Borghini has heavier gray veins. Our tiles are sold as Calacatta Gold and the product photos show the actual lot.
Is Calacatta Gold marble good for a kitchen backsplash?
Yes, and it is one of the most common uses. Seal it after installation and wipe up lemon, tomato and wine splashes promptly to avoid etching. Honed hides etching better than polished.
Can I use Calacatta Gold on a shower floor?
Use a honed mosaic (hexagon, basketweave or 1x2 brick) so the grout joints give grip, and seal it. Avoid polished tile underfoot in a shower.
Does Calacatta Gold need sealing?
Yes. Marble is porous. Apply a penetrating sealer after grout cures, wipe off the excess, and re-seal every 1–2 years in showers and kitchens. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; vinegar, lemon and bleach etch the surface.
Do you sell samples?
Yes. Every tile and mosaic here has a sample listing. Natural stone varies from lot to lot, so order a sample first, and buy all the tile for one project at the same time so it comes from one lot.
How fast does it ship?
In stock in the US and ships in 2–3 business days. Boxed tile and mosaics ship by ground; larger orders go LTL freight.
